Essential uni checklist

Essential Uni Checklist and where to buy stuff... the kitchen version

It's the countdown now! Exactly 6 days until results day and I will be continuing with a post about how to get good deals on kitchen essentials. I'll be posting good deals that I find so some of the hard work is done for you (you're welcome).

For kitchen essentials (I included items that might not be needed in halls but for people moving out into houses):

- Frying pans

Details: Contains 2 frying pans which are suitable for both gas and electrical hobs

Price: £3.99

Why: Good quality, comes with two different sizes, are cheaper than Wilkinsons (£5 each) and Tesco (£3 each) and will not be ruined in any cooking nightmares!

- Mixing bowl

Details: Height 14.3, width 14.3 and diameter 8.3

Price: £1.79

Why: Comes in very useful in cooking, and is safe to use in the oven, freezer, microwave and dishwasher= easy cleaning too!

- Saucepan

Details: Both have non-stick coating, handles to prevent burning

Price: £1.50 or £3.00

Why: You might not need the bigger saucepan, but it's might be a good idea for one-pot recipes

- Kitchen utensils

(Let's assume they'll have some there or you can buy some at your local supermarket)

- Tea towels

Details: Made of cotton, "retained wash after wash"

Price: £0.36 each

Why: They're always helpful to have around the kitchen, seem sturdy and quite cheap too!

- Tupperware

Details: 300ml rectangular, available in different colours

Price: £0.54 (inc VAT) each

Why: It's sometimes cheaper to make your own food for lunch instead of eating out or it's a good space to store leftovers from a big takeaway!

- Glasses

Details: 6 pack

Price: £1.95

Why: They look classy but are a good offer, however, I would advise to try and buy at your location in case they break. Might look silly buying fancy glasses but in the long run, you might save yourself money rather than buying plastic ones everytime you drink

- Crockery

Recommend: Basic Tesco range

Price: £0.60, £1 and £1

Why: Of course if you have it already don't bring it, these are just ideas, but they're very cheap from Tesco, in reduced to clear items you might find cheaper mugs but this was just so they made a sweet set

These are just some individual examples of things that I thought were of good value concerning items you'll need for moving out or in halls.

Hope it helps
