Netflix and chill no more

Everybody knows of this now very commonly used saying found often in memes or maybe even date nights, but as a cheapskate can we just replace the Netflix part with something else?

Well, yes, in fact you can! Here I'll show you how.

Netflix is a website where upon paying a monthly subscription, you can watch movies and series legally.

By saying I'll disclose to you some alternatives, I have no intention of advocating illegal sites. Not at all, instead, I'm going to help you identify which websites are legal or not and give you a list of some free, legal movie sites that you can enjoy or combine with (actual) chilling thanks very much.

Tip No1 to identify a legal website

Origins

- The website should tell you where they got the movie from.

- This is important as legal websites will either:

- Have permission from the film studios to show the movies

OR

- They're showing it because the movie is placed in the public domain (when nobody owns it)

- This can be found on an "About us" section which the site SHOULD have.

Tip No2

Adverts

- As much as we love TV channels and Youtube videos with no adverts, when it comes to these websites, adverts are a good indication if it's legal or not.

- Why you might ask? This is because:

- They'll want to make money

AND

- To avoid paying a subscription fee

- If they don't show adverts, it is probably likely it's illegal as they broadcast the films without having to pay copyright fees etc. so they don't need to make money

Tip No3

CONTACT

- When a website has nothing to hide, why would they not want you to be able

to contact them?

- As with the "About us" section, there should also be a "Contact us" section or

should have contact details available for the public

Tip No4

Newbies

- If a website has obtained permission to broadcast movies then there will be

no new movies. That simple

- It is impossible to obtain permission with one or two days of it having been

released in the cinema

- After all, if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't

Tip No5

Appearances

- This might be harder to distinguish, however legal sites will take a great effort in the design of their website because they want to earn money from it

- Illegal movie sites will have basic features and lacking key websites features as mentioned above

Tip No6

Ending

- As with ANY illegal website, they will not have an ordinary domain name

- This is because they will have to have created their website in a strange location

- For example, putlocker.is

Hope this helps you for future reference and that you learnt a thing or two.
