Indeals

Recently, the website indeals was brought to my attention.

As a student who initially wanted to go to Leeds University I found this such a cute coincidence that I couldn't resist sharing it.

In a nutshell, indeals is a website that posts honest deals for independent bars and restaurant, so this website is really exclusive!

Although it might not appear like a big, popular website yet, I obviously know what it's like to start from scratch and build up so I'm glad to give them a shout out, especially as they're making the effort to keep expanding and keep their deals updated.

Indeals was created by Ryan and co-founder Tim in 2013, Ryan was kind enough to give me a little insight into the origins of their website.

"When we used to work together for a digital agency in Leeds, we would often go out for lunch or drinks after work and take advantage of special offers to keep things cheap. As time went on we felt other people may be interested in which venues had what deals so we began working on what eventually became indeals.co.uk "

Knowing how big Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle are, it's not obvious why they chose to focus on specific restaurants and bars, I mean, what a big task load!

"We made the decision to focus on independent bars and restaurants mainly because we love the uniqueness and different identities they bring to our cities, and we wanted to do our bit to get people through their doors and keep them in business.

We started with Leeds as it's the city we know best but quickly moved onto Manchester and Newcastle, places myself and Tim have both lived.

In the few years we have been active we've covered an enormous amount of locations and deals; covering everything from 55% off food to brilliant happy hour drink deals; we've run competitions with venues to win free food & drink, and we've been actively blogging about our newest deals and doing deal reviews."

With blogging, competitions and keeping the site updated they really need to keep their priorities in order. Seems like they have though.

"One of our main priorities is to list deals that are simple to use.

We see lots of deals where a user has to download a specific app, create an account on a site just to download a voucher, or sign up for newsletters - we want to remove these barriers by just listing deals that are available as soon as you make a booking or walk into the venue.

We have also managed to keep indeals free to use, we don't charge venues to list their deals and we don't expect users to pay either (although following us on social media is appreciated!)."

^^ I think that was a sly hint guys ;)

And their plans for the future?

"The past year has been spent working on improving the website. We want to help people find deals quicker so we've been working on speed improvements while also adding functionality such as tags to help users find exactly what they want.

We're also currently working on our mobile app so people can find their favourite deals on the go and we continue to work with venues to add their deals, information and help them run competitions.

Ultimately we'd love to cover more cities and that's one of our biggest challenges for 2017."

Go.

Go do it.

Now :P
